Trend Notes: Abstract and geometric furniture style
We're loving the new geometric print pieces that we have in store this Spring. Abstract art, vibrant colour highlights, and geometric prints are strong style trends for 2019 and beyond.
Geometric on Neutral is a big crossover trend
Feeling like a natural transition to 60's and 70's inspired abstract forms and pattern in the home, this vintage trend is exciting us here at the roomshaped HQ. Not quite 70's wallpaper, repeating patterns on a background of soft whites and neutrals adds visual excitement to a scheme without being overwhelming.
Pattern goes large and goes home
Transitioning your neutral scheme to one that contains new exciting geometrics is easy with Roomshaped items like Ebba, which introduce the geometric on neutral vibe with screen printed drawer fronts. There are also more abstact patterns which have a larger repeat or a non-uniform repeat. We've got some items featuring metallics that do just that.
Pattern is an easy way to add bright colour and metallics
It's exciting having a new palette this year of bright colours (think Pantone's colour of the year 2019, Living Coral) but it can be difficult to work these into your home scheme. Printed drawer fronts can add colourful highlights without the shock of a big block of colour. If you want to introduce metallics such as gold and brass, then using pattern which showcases these is a good route to take. We like the pieces that marry a good natural look - for example, a strong dark chestnut finish, with a pattern of brass or gold inlay.
